BauBax is a damn cool line of smart clothing that wirelessly charges your devices

A pretty intriguing Kickstarter has made its way across our radar. The company is called BauBax, and they’ve designed a line of over thirty wearable products that passively and wirelessly charge your devices while you’re wearing them. If it works the way they say it does, this is a pretty damn cool set of products.
The BauBax line includes a range spanning jackets, pants, wallets, and accessories that are capable of charging any Qi-compatible smartphones, tablets, or smartwatches. The way it works is that the company has developed an ultra-slim power bank that slips into your wallet. You put your wallet in one pocket of your jacket or pants and put your smartphone in the other. Tech in the clothing pipes the charge wirelessly from the power bank to your device. There are even optional “charging coins” that can slip out of the jacket sleeve to charge smartwatches off the cuff, so to speak.
When you get home at night, you just toss your wallet on the BauBax charging pad by your night stand, and it’s ready to go the next morning. The best part about this is that all the clothing and its embedded equipment are machine washable.
It’s an innovative approach that attempts to cut wires and keep you mobile and powered all day long. BauBax is calling it “mindless charging,” the next evolutionary step in wireless charging. At the time of writing, the Kickstarter is closing in on $5,000 toward its $100,000 goal with nearly two months left to go on the campaign.

Backing the project is a little tricky since backers probably want to snag specific styles and types of devices to suit their needs. Rather than make a long list of possible combinations that might leave some preferences out in the cold, BauBax has created a calculator on their site that lets you pick and choose the products you want to receive once the project gets the green light. Right now the company is pushing a “Super early bird” discount that knocks up to 50 percent off the price tag of these high tech fashion statements.
