Deer Hunter 2018 best hunting games for Android 1

Hunting is one of humankind’s oldest activities. Of course, back then we needed it for food and we really don’t anymore. However, some people still enjoy the sport while others hate it entirely. Hunting games have changed very little from their roots. You sit tight, wait to see the game, and then shoot the game. There are a bunch of hunting games for Android but only a few stand out. Here are the best ones!

The best hunting games for Android

Big Hunter

Price: Free / Up to $9.99

Big Hunter is an arcade hunting game. You play as a hunter with a variety of weapons and tactics. Massive animals chase you backwards and you have to successfully stop them. This is not a deep or realistic hunting game in any respect so don’t expect that with this one. At best, it’s a time killer for short play sessions. However, there is a storyline along with leaderboards and some additional stuff.

Deer Hunter 2018

Price: Free to play / $1.99-$4.99 per month

Deer Hunter 2018 is one of several hunting games by Glu. This one tries a little harder to be accurate and deep. You can hunt game from all over the world with a variety of weapons and gear. There are also predators that try to get you first so there is a bit of tension there. It’s quite enjoyable to play. There are some free to play elements, though, and the game strongly pushes toward them along with its in-game subscription. It’s a bit irritating, but the mechanics are solid enough. Also, Glu owns the Deer Hunter license, apparently, so the company has a few Deer Hunter games.

Deer Hunter Classic

Price: Free to play

Deer Hunter Classic is very similar to Deer Hunter 2018, but a little more classic, obviously. You go out hunting and there are over 100 animal species to find and hunt. There are also a variety of weapons and weapon upgrades to maximize your chances of success. The graphics are quite good and the mechanics are easy enough to learn. It’s a solid overall experience and a decent time killer for hunting games fans. There are some bugs in the game, though, so prepare yourself for that one.

Dino Hunter

Price: Free to play

Dino Hunter Deadly Shores screenshot 2022

Dino Hunter is proof that you don’t have to hunt real animals. This one has you hunting down the prehistoric animals. Otherwise, it’s actually a fairly typical free to play hunting game. You get various types of gear and upgrades to improve your chances and you scour the world looking for dinosaurs to hunt. There are even some futuristic weapons for the sake of variety. It’s a free to play game and it definitely shows after a few hours, but it has solid mechanics for those who don’t mind grinding a bit.

Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition

Price: $4.99

Don’t Starve is a survival game with a lot of fun game mechanics. You end up stranded in some strange place and must survive at all costs. There are a lot of things here, including a crafting and farming system. However, you can absolutely hunt animals in this game. You can do so by setting traps or attacking directly. Since the premise is not starving to death, hunting for food is actually a main mechanic. There are some other survival games that dabble with this, but we like Don’t Starve’s approach. There is a second game in the series, Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked, that is also quite good.

Hunting Simulator

Price: Free / Up to $9.99

Hunting Simulator is one of the best hunting games for android

Hunting Simulator is another decent indie hunting game. The game includes a total of nine maps, eight weapons, 12 total species to hunt down, and some extra gear for hunters such as a decoy caller. We especially liked the ballistic calculator and wind shift. It adds a bit of depth you don’t normally see in the indie hunting games market. The graphics could be better and there are some bugs, but it’s definitely not a bad game in this space.

Hunt Cook

Price: Free to play

Hunt Cook is technically a cooking game, but it has hunting elements. The game focuses on the entire experience of getting food out of the wild and onto your plate. Thus, while there are a lot of cooking mechanics, there are also some hunting mechanics as well. Players basically go out into the wild, find and hunt stuff, and then bring it back to serve to people in their restaurant. The game can be kind of slow on occasion due to its energy system, but it’s otherwise a decent time killer.

Pokemon Go and similar games

Price: Free to play

This one is a bit of a mental stretch, we’ll admit. However, it is a hunting game at its core. Pokemon Go has players going out into the real world to take gyms, battle each other, and, of course, hunt down Pokemon and catch them. We like that this game gets you out of your chair and into the real world. However, we understand if you’re disappointed at the lack of stuff like guns. This is a family friendly game and there are others like it. It won’t scratch that hunting sim itch or maybe it will since you do have to go out into nature.

Wild Hunt

Price: Free to play

Wild Hunt is one of the more popular hunting games. You can hunt a variety of wild game in this one. The game also features various maps in various countries, added difficulty with stuff like rain and wind, and even some social gaming elements. The game boasts real locations and actual animals so there is no fiction in this one. You collect weapons and upgrade them as you do in free to play titles. The PvP is a little bit weird and the free to play stuff always gets on your nerves after a while. Other than that, it’s easily one of the few that reaches for the top in this genre.

Wild Hunter 3D

Price: Free to play

Wild Hunter 3D is one of the best hunting games for Android

Wild Hunter 3D is a mission-style hunting game with a surprising amount of content. It boasts over 200 story missions, a bunch of weapons to collect and upgrade, and decent mechanics and graphics. The controls take a moment to get used to because there are a lot of buttons. However, that’s about the only major gripe we have aside from it being a free-to-play game. Overall, it’s a decent hunting simulator as long as you don’t mind the in-app purchases.
