More Chromebooks from ASUS and Acer can use Android apps on Chrome OS Developer channel
You can add three more Chromebooks to the growing list of those Chrome OS devices that can now run Android apps as well, if you are not afraid of dealing with some bugs in the process. The Chrome OS developer channel has quietly added the Acer Chromebook 14, the Acer Chromebook 15, and the ASUS C300 Chromebook to its Android app compatible list.
The new hardware additions join the Dell Chromebook 13, the HP 13, the Samsung Chromebook 3, the ASUS C301SA, the Acer R13, the Chromebook Pixel 2015, the Acer Chromebook R11 and the ASUS Chromebook Flip as Android-ready Chromebooks. Google first announced its plans to offer support for Android apps on many Chrome OS devices earlier this year.
Again this support is only for people who install the Chrome OS build on the developer channel to those three Chromebooks. Keep in mind that the developer channel build will also have more than the usual share of bugs and issues so casual owners of these three devices should avoid downloading and installing this version of the OS. It’s likely that the new Android-ready Chromebooks will be supported from the Chrome OS stable channel sometime in the very near future, possibly as soon as December.
