Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 arrives to the U.S. on May 1st, starting at $200
Earlier this month Samsung quietly took the wraps off its new lower-end Galaxy Tab 4 series, which includes three models: 7.0, 8.0 and 10.1. At the time, all we knew for sure is that the tablet series would start shipping in the U.S. during Q2 of this year. Today Samsung revealed that all three models will go on sale beginning on May 1st.
The Galaxy Tab 4 models will be available through major retailers such as Amazon and Best Buy and are to be priced at $199.99 for the 7-incher, $269.99 for 8-inches and $349.99 for the 10.1-inch model. For those interested in getting the tablet directly from Samsung, the Korean giant will open up pre-orders on April 24th.
As for the specs that power the Tab 4 series? All three models run on a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1.5GB RAM. Other specs include 16GB storage, microSD, a 3MP front cam, a 1.3MP back cam and Android 4.4 KitKat. Where the devices differ is in battery and screen size.
All models have a resolution of 1280×720, though the screen sizes are obviously different. In terms of battery, the Tab 4 7.0 offers 4000 mAh, with the 7.0 and 10.1-inch models packing 4450 and 6800 mAh respectively.
Now let’s be honest, the Tab 4 series is far from impressive, but we do admit that the pricing seems fair enough. For Samsung fans looking for a budget option, the Tab 4 line could certainly fit the bill. Those who don’t mind deviating from Samsung may want to also consider other popular budget devices like the Nexus 7 2013, instead.
