See the Galaxy Tab A (2016): everything you loved, now with an S Pen

We’ve known since August that Samsung has been hard at work on an updated version of their popular Galaxy Tab A 10.1. All we really knew at the time is that they would be adding an S Pen, and it’s starting to look like that’s really all they’re changing.

This isn’t really a bad thing. The Galaxy Tab A is a more than competent tablet, and the addition of an S Pen potentially increases its value as a productivity device. Press images just arrived today, so this is our first official look at the Galaxy Tab A (2016).

We don’t have any official word on the specs yet, but our guess is that there’s not going to be much changed from the previous model. We’re expecting a robust 7,200mAh battery powering 2GB of RAM that feed into a 1.6GHz Exynos 7870 processor. Probably 16GB of storage, naturally expandable via microSD, and although Nougat is making headlines, we doubt this tablet will be running anything higher than Marshmallow.

Of course the addition of the S Pen will naturally indicate some software changes. It would be silly for Samsung to launch this doodle-friendly tablet without including all the S Pen capabilities we’re familiar with on the Note line.
