Google wants to help cover your house with solar panels with its new Project Sunroof tool

The sun is constantly providing us with free energy, though most folks around the globe aren’t quite sure how to harness it. • Google’s database of aerial imagery and maps
• 3D modeling of your roof
• Shadows cast by nearby structures and trees
• All possible sun positions over the course of a year
• Historical cloud and temperature patterns that might affect solar energy production

For now, residents in Boston, San Francisco and Fresno can take advantage of the helpful service, and more regions will definitely be added in the future.
