A few weeks after rumors hit the internet that Google was planning to launch a smaller version of its Google Home smart speaker, a new report claims to have images and pricing details of the device. Not surprisingly, the report says the speaker will be called the Google Home Mini, and that it will be priced at just $49. A separate report from the same outlet claims we will soon see new Daydream View mobile VR units as well.

Here are the features Google Assistant might be getting soon

According to Droid Life, who got the images and info from an unnamed source, the Google Home Mini will only have a powered connection and will come in Chalk, Charcoal, and Coral colors. The design itself makes the speaker look a bit like a hockey puck, and there also appears to be LED lights on top. The report claims that it will support the Google Assistant digital companion like the regular Google Home. It also looks like the Google Home Mini won’t have interchangeable bases like its bigger version. Its dirt cheap price of $49 is the same price as the Amazon Echo Dot, and could lead to some new competition for Amazon’s Alexa-powered smart speakers.

In a separate post, Droid Life posted up leaked images of the new versions of Google’s Daydream View VR headsets. On the surface, the new headsets don’t appear to look much different than the first generation of Daydream View products that launched in 2016. The new units do come in Charcoal, Fog, and Coral colors, and the outside material also appear to be more rugged than the current version. The report claims that the price of these new headsets will be $99, which is $20 higher than the current $79 version.

Google is going to be announcing a number of new products on October 4, and it’s likely that the Google Home Mini and the new Daydream View headsets will be included in that reveal. Google is also expected to officially announce its new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones at that event.
