Image of Motorola's upcoming MotoMods, courtesy of @evleaks
We have been hearing all about the Moto Z and Moto G4 series, but it seems Motorola has been hiding a little something behind these upcoming smartphones. Leaks extraordinaire @evleaks refuses to fully retire from the tech industry and gives us yet another leaked image we can all salivate over.
This photo displays 3 back plates that Motorola seems to be calling “MotoMods”. We can assume this would be their take on the whole modular idea, which has become quite popular. LG has decided to make the bottom of the phone removable with the G5, allowing modules to be attached to the phone.
What Motorola is doing here is making back plates that could be switched at will. The one in the front obviously improves the camera, with what looks like some serious flash technology, an additional lens and a dedicated shutter button. The one in the middle seems to be some kind of kickstand, while we have no idea what the back plate all the way in the back is all about.
Other details continue to be scarce, but it is believed these accessories are made for the upcoming Moto Z device(s). There is said to be two versions. The high-end handset could have a Snapdragon 820 and 3 GB of RAM, while the more affordable iteration could sport a Qualomm Snapdragon 625 and a 3,500 mAh battery.
Just keep in mind these are nothing but rumors and leaks. We could learn more about all these products on June 9th’s announcement… or not. After all, that announcement is a rumor too.
