Marshmallow is now running on 10% of all Android devices
Google has just released Android distribution numbers for the month of June 2016. After 8 months of being available to OEMs around the world, it looks like Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now installed on 10.1% of all Android devices. This is up from the 7.5% adoption rate we saw in last month’s numbers.
Android Lollipop has actually seen a .2% drop this time around, now coming in at 35.4%. KitKat is installed on 31.6% of all Android devices, a .9% drop from last month. Android 4.1 – 4.3 Jelly Bean is still going strong at 18.9%, though it is down 1.2% from last month.
Rounding out our numbers are Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread and, of course, Froyo, coming in at 1.9%, 2% and .1%, respectively. As we’ve noted in the past, any versions with less than .1% distribution are not shown on the chart.
We recently took a poll to see what version of Android are readers are using on their devices. So far, out of 8,800 total votes, it’s looking like 56% of our readers are running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, while a strong 22% are using Lollipop devices. If you haven’t voted yet, be sure to do so now!
