Report: Motorola planning a launch event for June 9th
The past few weeks have seen more than their fair share of leaks, perhaps few as enticing as a proto Moto. Despite not being confirmed yet or even officially named, a number of Motorola devices have been making the rounds, including what many are calling the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Pro. It seems that something is going to be announced in the coming months however according to a post by Gizmo China.
According to the aforementioned gadget site, at a Lenovo launch event held in Beijing earlier today for the Zuk Z2 Pro and its pricing, the company’s CEO, Yang Yuanqing, specified that its subsidiary, Motorola, will be releasing a new device on June 9th. While neither a name nor nod was given, the executive specified that the product would be “exciting”.
In July of last year, Motorola announced the Moto X Style, which was released in the United States as the Moto X Pure Edition, along with sibling smartphone the Moto X Play. July was also when the heavily leaked Moto G (3rd Edition) made its debut as well. It is thus unclear as to what this June announcement will bring forth, though a refresh of one or both products would certainly seem logical.
Given that Samsung and LG both bumped-up their bringing-forth flagships this year, it would not be surprising to see Motorola do the same. While purely speculative, it is worth pointing out that while the purported Moto G 4th Edition and Moto G Pro have been making the rounds, not much has been seen of what is believed to be the metal-made Moto X.
Behold the menagerie of Moto that have made headlines in the past few days:
While June may be a number of weeks away, if the past few weeks are any indication, expect there to be more substantial product leaks as the build-up begins.
What do you think? Are you excited about the potential new Motorola products, or is the potential design not quite what you had in mind?
