In February, after over a year of no updates, the popular Muzei live wallpaper app finally got a new version with some additional features. Thankfully, the developers of the app, Roman Nurik and Ian Lake (both of whom work at Google in their day jobs) didn’t wait quite that long to launch the next version of Muzei. It’s now available for download from the Google Play Store.

This new version adds support for a home screen widget that allows users to grab a new wallpaper manually whenever they want via the “Next Artwork” activity. In addition, if you have a third-party launcher such as the recently updated Nova Launcher, Muzei can add a  “Next Artwork” activity as a gesture for those apps. It also adds a similar action to the Tasker control and automation app.

The update has a few bug fixes, including one that deals with an issue that was causing the corruption of images, or putting black sections in images when using the blurring feature. Another bug that has been fixed solves a problem that was causing settings to be ignored after a phone had upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. Finally, the new version fixes a bug that was causing excessive storage space to be used with the app.
