Pebble Time watches get a new weather app, better step tracking in latest update
Pebble may have just taken the wraps off its new line of smartwatches, but that doesn’t mean its current generation devices will stop getting updates anytime soon. The company has just announced firmware version 3.13 for its Pebble Time, Time Round and Time Steel devices that brings a new weather app, improvements to its Pebble Health software and more.
Pebble’s official Weather application is now powered by The Weather Channel and can be accessed right on your Timeline. It’ll show you the current temperature, current conditions, highs and lows for the day, and the next day’s forecast. Users can manage weather settings from the Apps tab in the Pebble mobile application.
Additionally, Pebble Health is getting some improvements with this update. Pebble says it has enhanced its step and sleep algorithms to help account for movements when sleeping. In the past, movements in the middle of the night would count as steps, but that shouldn’t be the case after this update. Health’s mobile graphs now also include the last time updated, clearer messaging and support for 24-hour time.
There are a few more things you should know about with this update, so check out the official changelog below:
- Experience more accurate step and sleep tracking in Pebble Health. The algorithm is now smarter about accounting for movements made while sleeping, and keeping them from being logged as steps.
- See current temperature, highs and lows for the day, and the next day’s forecast with a new, official Weather app.
- Is it getting hot in here? Added support for the Fire emoji.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements.
Unfortunately Pebble Classic and Pebble Steel devices won’t be getting this firmware update. If you happen to have a Time, Time Round or Time Steel, heat to Menu>Support>Update Your Pebble on your smartphone app to grab the latest version.
