You can now grab Pokemon Playhouse, a completely free game for young children
The Pokemon Company today announced that its newest game, Pokemon Playhouse is now available for Android. The company has been entertaining us for the better part of 20 years and has been responsible for my personal all-time favorite game series. Now, it’s looking to entertain an entirely new generation with this new game.
Sadly, this game won’t appeal to gamers who have followed the series for the majority of its life. But, it will appeal to kids like my five-year-old that think Pikachu is the cutest thing ever. If the term “EV Training” means anything to you, you’re probably too old for this one.
Pokemon Playhouse is narrated by a human character and there’s no math, puzzles, or really any kind of challenges to figure out. It’s more about finding Pokemon, hatching eggs, and having fun. There are several areas for kids to enjoy with fun activities. Some areas may have your kids grooming their Pokemon while others might have them identifying Pokemon in the night’s sky. Exploring the areas will lead to meeting new Pokemon and hatching eggs by simply carrying them around and completing objectives.
After about ten minutes of playing, my daughter is already in love with it. I remember all the fun adventures I had while trying to catch MissingNo or going through the steps of The Mew Glitch. It’s a fun universe that I can’t wait to share with her. The Pokemon Company appears to be doing it the right way too. The game is free out of the gate with zero in-app purchases, advertisements or permissions to worry about.
