Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge arrive in India
Just one week after the handsets’ initial launch date, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have now both gone on sale in India. The March 18th local release date was originally announced by Samsung at a dedicated launch event in the country a week ago.
A number of major Indian retailers and local stores are stocking both of the handsets. Samsung’s online store and Flipkart are already taking orders, while Amazon India and other online retailers are expecting stock to arrive within the coming weeks. As for their prices, the regular Galaxy S7 will set you back Rs. 48,900 ($733), while the S7 Edge carries a slightly more expensive Rs. 56,900 ($855) price tag. Indian customers have their choice of black, gold, or silver color options.
It’s the Samsung Exynos 8890 processor models that have made their way to India, meaning that both handset versions pack an octa-core SoC featuring Samsung’s custom CPU cores and a Mali-T880 GPU. Other hardware specifications remain the same as before, including a QHD AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, a 12 megapixel rear camera with dual pixel auto-focusing, a 5 megapixel front camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. Android Marshmallow is installed out of the box as well.
