Samsung unveils Gear Fit 2 wearable and Gear IconX earbuds
Today Samsung revealed their long-awaited Gear Fit 2 as well as the Gear IconX earbuds. Both of these products target fitness-conscious users, with the Gear IconX providing tunes on the trail and the Gear Fit 2 supplying precise activity tracking and a dedicated music player.
The Gear Fit 2 can monitor your heart-rate to give you feedback on your individual workouts. You can also use the GPS to track your progress if you’re a runner, cycler, or walker. This wearable works in tandem with the Icon X to help you strategically improve your fitness routines. As Younghee Lee, the executive Vice President of Global Marketing for Samsung’s mobile business puts it:
Living a healthy lifestyle is a top priority for consumers to enjoy fulfilling lives. Our wearable technology can enhance existing routines and blend fitness and fun. The Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX are specialized to easily address these needs, ultimately allowing users to get more out of their fitness experiences and everyday activities.
The Gear Fit 2 comes with a Super AMOLED curved touchscreen display which can be used for checking and responding to notifications. It automatically detects when you’re running, walking, or cycling, meaning you don’t have to tell it when you’re starting an exercise. It just knows. You can use the accompanying S Health application for long-term fitness data and to share and compare your workouts with friends.
The Gear IconX comes with three different sizes of eartips and wingtips, and they activate just by putting them in your ears. They too can track fitness data and sync up with S Health. They can store up to 1,000 MP3s, and simply tapping or swiping the earbuds lets you navigate through your playlists.
The Gear Fit 2 will hit the market on June 10, but we won’t see the Gear Icon X until Q3. While we wait, let us know what you think of these products in the comments below!
