Snap Inc. and BBC Worldwide are releasing six brand new mini-episodes of Planet Earth II exclusively on Snapchat.

Each episode will last between four and six minutes, with the first launching on February 17, a day before the Planet Earth II series debuts in the US (it was shown in the UK towards the end of last year).

The episodes will be released on a weekly basis and will align with the locations of the TV series: Mountains, Deserts, Jungles, Islands, Grasslands and Cities, but will feature all new footage built for Snapchat’s portrait mobile view.

Unlike the TV show, these episodes won’t be narrated by Sir David Attenborough but instead by British actress Sophie Okonedo (The Secret Life of Bees, Hotel Rwanda). Further, the won’t be available in 4K resolution.

This isn’t the only mobile show Snap Inc. has been working on recently: it is currently running Watch Party: The Bachelor in the US on Tuesdays, a sister series to The Bachelor, and the Good Luck, America original news commentary show.

Snap Inc. is seeking new ways to keep users engaged and prove its potential before it goes public (expected to happen in March). The company lost $514.6 million last year, but is expected to be valued at $25 billion in its IPO (initial public offering).
