Sony's Xperia Z4 is leaked and revealed in picture form
Time goes by so slowly for those who wait. Madonna couldn’t hesitate, and it seems neither can those eager to out the Sony Xperia Z4. Thanks for a fresh batch of new leaks, we can finally see what appears to be the final product. Let’s break down the pictures, shot-by-shot:
In this picture, we can see the front of the phone, along with a pair of icons that are clearly in Korean, thus suggesting this leak may have came from either South Korea or else a Korean user. Of particular interest with the screen however, is Sony’s decision to replace the geometrical circle “home” navigational button with the traditional house icon. Given that many refer to Lollipop’s redesign as the “Playstation” buttons, it’s somewhat ironic. At the top left corner, a charging LED can be seen.
Along the right side of the device, you can see the power button, which looks slightly off-center. Below it the volume toggle, and at the bottom, a dedicated camera key. As we don’t yet know what material the frame of the device is made out of, it is difficult to speculate what the keys are, however from this picture they appear to be plastic.
Here we have a larger, more focused image of the device that shows off the well hidden front-facing speakers (look directly along the edge of the bezel). There is also a cut out along the bottom left of the device, next to the charging cable, suggesting there may be an extra speaker. Once again, the corners of the device look to be made of a different material than the frame (a la the Xperia Z3). The microUSB port seems to be exposed (no plastic flap).
The back of the device appears to once again be made of glass, and bears the logo of Sony’s G-Lens tech. Due to the blurry nature of the photo it’s unclear if the aperture has been changed from past models. Unlike its competitors, the Xperia Z4 looks to once again use a single LED flash.
Here we have the left side of the device, which contains a sealed flap for what is assumed to be the SIM card and microSD card slot.
Finally, along the top we have the headphone jack and, to the right side, what appears to be a microphone hole.
According to NowhereElse, these pictures are for Model E6553 which is being developed under the code name “IVY”, and that there are in fact two different variants: one has a 5.2-inch screen at 2560X1440 resolution (QHD), and the other a 5.2-inch screen at 1920X1080 HD resolution. It remains to be seen just what will become of this alleged truth, for releasing the same exact product with the sole differentiating factor being screen resolution could result in a large degree of customer confusion.
The source also mentions the usage of a Snapdragon 810 CPU, 4GB of RAM, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera. S-Master HX Digital Audio is on-board, as well as IP68 certification.
While the presence of 4GB of RAM is indeed a refreshing idea, given how Sony’s Android skin is relatively minimal on bloat, it’s somewhat questionable as to why the device would need it. Perhaps the idea is to future-proof the device, especially as Sony is allegedly seeking to reduce the frequency of its flagship offerings to just once a year.
Please remember that Sony has not announced or confirmed anything, yet, and thus these pictures are not necessarily the final build of the Xperia Z4, if they are the phone at all. Still, assuming this is the next flagship, do you plan to get it? Does the design mesh well with that seen on the Xperia Z4 Tablet?
