The Verizon Moto Z Droid Editions launch July 14
We’ve just received an invitation for a Moto event in New York on July 14, where the Verizon Moto Z Droid Editions will be officially launched. We don’t have prices or exact release dates yet, but stay tuned as that information will be forthcoming next week.
As you may recall from our recent Lenovo TechWorld coverage, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force were both announced with a Verizon exclusive in the U.S. planned for the first few months under the Droid Edition moniker.
At this point, it’s not currently clear what Verizon plans to do to make them “different” from the general Moto Z and Moto Z Force launches that will follow (the specs remain the same in the Droid Editions). But we do know Droid Edition owners will get two years of free, unlimited “original quality” Google Photos storage.
We also already have a list of the Moto Mods accessories Verizon will carry, but the price tags may not make you fell too inclined to pick one up. At the very least there will be a full buffet for those interested in Moto Mods, unlike the patchy availability of LG’s modular accessories for the G5.
In any case, we’ll be live in New York to see what’s what and we’ll deliver the latest news then. In the meantime, hit the comments and let us know what you think about Verizon snagging another Moto exclusive and whether you’ll be picking one up, waiting for the general release in the Fall or skipping the Z entirely.
