Verizon and T-Mobile update Galaxy Tab S2 to Android Nougat
With the official release of Android O right around the corner, the Verizon Galaxy Tab S2 has just received the bump to Android Nougat while T-Mobile customers first started receiving it a couple of days ago.
Samsung has never been the best at timely updates for its devices, tablets most of all. Nevertheless, we first heard Samsung was working on the Nougat update back in November of last year. That update first dropped internationally a couple of months ago before finally hitting the first U.S. carriers.
The update brings along the cleaner Samsung UI introduced with Android 7.0 and adds various Nougat features you can read about in our comprehensive review, including a native split-screen mode, quick app switching and plenty of Samsung-specific features. Neither T-Mo nor Verizon state which “latest security patch” is included.
To check for the update on either tablet, just go to Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for update to install. You’ll need at least 50 percent battery and plenty of available space as the update package is around 1 GB in size. Be sure to install over a Wi-Fi connection too.
