Waterproof Galaxy S7 Edge shows up in Samsung Indonesia commercial
One of the biggest upgrades rumored to be coming to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is water resistance. Now a video and teaser site published by Samsung’s Indonesian branch confirm the feature.
The video ad, starring Indonesian athlete Dellie Threesyadinda, shows what appears to be the Galaxy S7 Edge being used in heavy rain. We assume that we’re looking at Samsung’s next flagship, though there are no obvious differences between the phone in the ad and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. The 2015 S6 Edge Plus is not waterproof, however, so unless Samsung is playing fast and loose with its marketing, the mystery phone can only be the Galaxy S7 Edge.
The unlisted video is embedded on this teaser site put up by Samsung Indonesia, that contains a handful of clues about the Next Galaxy’s hero features. Samsung will promote the S7’s privacy (“Experience privacy at its finest”), design (“Meet the irresistible”), water resistance (“Worry-less discovery”), and camera (“Bring light to the night”).
The outline of a phone surrounded by bubbles further confirms the presence of water resistance, a feature that Samsung introduced on the Galaxy S5, but then abandoned on the Galaxy S6 and other 2015 flagships. The video also confirms wireless charging.
The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will be introduced to the world this Sunday, ahead of MWC Barcelona. Samsung will reportedly allow customers to pre-order the new devices right away, with a free Gear VR headset bundled in.
