Latest Xperia X Concept update adds new camera version and LDAC support
Sony has released new firmware for its Sony Xperia X Concept program which delivers LDAC support for better audio, an improved camera app, and a glove mode.
The update, which is built on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, brings devices up to build number 38.3.1.A.0.32C and was recently detailed in an announcement on Sony’s Discuss channel.
Glove mode, as the name accurately suggests, helps Xperia X owners use the device while wearing gloves. It’s a feature seen on Sony Xperia devices previously and works by increasing the sensitivity of the display. Meanwhile, LDAC support provides Hi-Res audio when used with compatible LDAC headphones.
Sony doesn’t go into details about the new camera app, but does mention that it has improved device performance when it’s under heavy load. In addition, the firmware delivers February’s security patches, though VoLTE has been removed from this build due to complications on German networks.
Sony’s Concept updates run alongside its official updates, acting as an experimental outlet for its developers to test drive new features and rethink old ideas concerning its Xperia UI; the improvements implemented are often based on community feedback.
Note that these updates are only available to Xperia X owners in Europe who have signed up for Concept updates on the Experimental track. To get the software on your device, download Sony’s app from the Play Store via the link below, and learn more about the project at the official Sony Mobile site.
