vivo Y71 launches in India, so what do you get for under $170?
The Indian market is fiercely contested, as Xiaomi and Samsung claim to be number one. Vivo hasn’t had the best 2017 in the region, but it’s hoping that devices like the newly announced vivo Y71 will put it in the mix.
The phone, which launches tomorrow (April 14) at physical stores and April 16 via online retailers, packs a fair amount of features for 10,990 rupees ($168).
In the power department, you’ve got a low-end Snapdragon 425 (quad-core A53) chipset, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and a 3,360mAh battery that should make for good endurance. This all drives a tall, 6-inch LCD screen (1440×720).
Looking at the cameras, we’ve got a 13MP single shooter at the rear and a 5MP selfie camera that handles facial recognition and offers an “AI Face Beauty” mode. No dual-camera setup here, unfortunately.
You might still be better off with the Redmi 5A though, offering the same chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and similar cameras for 6,999 rupees. And if you don’t mind 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, you can get the entry-level model for 5,999 rupees. The vivo Y71 does have a taller screen and a slightly larger battery, in case you value these features more.
