Acer Chromebase 24 now available starting at $450

If you in the market for a Chrome OS-based all-in-one desktop, Acer has your back. While the enterprise variant of Acer’s Chromebase 24 launched back in March, the consumer version is now available directly from Acer, Amazon, and select other retailers.

The consumer-oriented Chromebase 24 starts out at $430, the entry point for those don’t feel the display’s lack of a touch screen is a sticking point. The step up to the next model delivers a touch screen for roughly $80 more. So what’s the difference between the new consumer variants of the Chromebook 24 and the enterprise model? Not a whole lot. The consumer editions start at about $280 under the entry price of the enterprise version of the Chromebase 24, though most of that difference comes from the included annual management and support fees.

Behind this 24-inch frame’s 1080p display, there’s a 1.7 GHz dual-core Intel Celeron processor. It’s also packing 4 GB of RAM, and 16GB storage. While this is a pretty decent amount of RAM for a Chrome OS device, it’s important to note that the RAM can’t be further expanded in this unit. All variants of the the Acer all-in-one (AIO) are identical in terms of processing power, memory and persistent storage.
