Acer has another entry in its popular lineup of Chromebooks, this time from its Spin brand. The Acer Chromebook Spin 514 is the first such Chromebook from the company that will use both mobile processors and graphics chips from AMD.
The Chromebook Spin 514 model can be purchased with either the AMD Ryzen 7 3700C or Ryzen 5 3500C quad-core processor. Both will also have AMD’s Radeon Vega mobile graphics chips inside for faster performance.
As with other Spin models, the Chromebook Spin 514’s 14-inch 1,920 x 1,080 touchscreen display can be rotated 360 degrees. That allows it to be used in several formats, including the traditional laptop, or as a big tablet. It weighs just 3.42 pounds and is just 17.35mm thick.
The Chromebook is made of anodized, sandblasted aluminum, and has a MIL-STD-810H rating for durability. It’s designed to keep working even if it falls from a height of 48 inches and can withstand up to 132 pounds of downward force. Also, the display is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass to keep it safe from scratches.

It also has two speakers, two microphones, and a battery designed to last up to 10 hours on a single charge.
Acer will also sell the Chromebook Enterprise Spin 514 model for businesses. This model has all the specs of the standard model, but will also include comprehensive security features that will allow a company’s IT administrator to install apps, control updates, and more with web-based management.
