TL;DR
  • After bringing Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat to ChatGPT, Adobe is now launching a unified plugin that brings more than 70 tools under one roof.
  • Users can perform multiple actions, including photo editing, video creation, and more with a single prompt.
  • The new plugin is rolling out globally. It is only available on the web and the desktop app for now.

As AI tools become more prevalent, traditional ways of doing things are slowly fading away. You used to perform a Google search for general queries, but now you ask ChatGPT for the same information. Similarly, instead of browsing through multiple websites to plan a trip, you simply ask Gemini to take the reins. AI is clearly changing the way people interact with software and devices, and the latest example of this shift comes in the form of a new Adobe plugin for ChatGPT.

For reference, this isn’t Adobe making its ChatGPT debut. The software-maker made Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Express, and Adobe Acrobat accessible within ChatGPT back in December last year. Today’s update significantly expands on that integration.

With the Adobe plugin, ChatGPT users now have access to more than 70 tools across Adobe’s creative and productivity suites. The appeal here isn’t just the number of tools. It’s the fact that they’re all available under a unified plugin.

The newly-introduced plugin brings tools and capabilities from Adobe Express, Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, Acrobat, Lightroom, Illustrator, InDesign, Stock, and more under one roof. “One unified Adobe plugin now takes you from idea to finished work in a single connected experience in ChatGPT,” writes the creative software giant.

Essentially, what once needed you to juggle multiple integrations can now be done in one place without really needing to understand the complexities of Adobe’s ecosystem. Plus, you don’t need to know which Adobe app is the best suited for the task. ChatGPT will figure that out for you.

For example, you can share your vacation photos with the AI tool and prompt it with something like “Batch edit these photos by adjusting color, lighting, and tone. Plus, generate a highlight video with key moments for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.” In this case, the AI tool might use Lightroom and Photoshop for image editing and Premiere to turn said images into a short video clip.

That’s just one possible use case. You’re free to use the tool for more professional use cases as well, like creating social media campaigns, brochures, presentations, PDFs, and more.

Get started with Adobe tools in ChatGPT

  1. Head to ChatGPT on the web or the desktop app.
  2. Click on “Plugins” in the left-aligned toolbar.
  3. Search for “Adobe.”
  4. Install the one that reads “Adobe Design, combine, and edit,” as seen in the reference images below.
  5. Sign in to your Adobe account or continue as a guest.
  6. Try the plugin!

The plugin is rolling out globally today. It’s worth noting that you don’t need an Adobe account to get started. However, being signed in will unlock more skills, generative AI tools, and continuity.
