Amazfit is going after Fitbit in India with its new smartwatch
- Huami has launched the Amazfit Stratos 3 in India for Rs 13,999 (~$184).
- The smartwatch comes with 80 sports modes.
- It also features a 14-day battery life.
Xiaomi-backed Huami Corporation has launched its most expensive smartwatch in India to date — the Amazfit Stratos 3. The smartwatch is targeted at professional athletes and is packed with 80 sports modes. These include activities like running, swimming, climbing, hiking, triathlons, boxing, and more. You also get professional-grade sports analysis from Firstbeat through the Amazfit app.
Unlike the Amazfit Bip S and GTS, the Stratos 3 comes with a 1.34-inch circular, touchscreen display. It’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has an oleophobic coating on top to keep those sweaty fingerprints at bay. The dial of the watch is made of stainless steel and reinforced plastic. It has four physical buttons around it for easy navigation.
Meanwhile, the silicone straps are 22mm wide and give the watch a rugged and sporty look.
In terms of sensors, the Amazfit Stratos is equipped with an optical heart rate sensor, a 6-axis acceleration sensor, a 3-axis geomagnetic sensor, and an air pressure sensor. It also features a built-in Sony GNSS chip that supports four different global positioning systems: GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo. The company claims that the smartwatch can continuously track your location for up to 70 hours in the power-saving mode.
Additionally, the Stratos 3 features a 5ATM rating which means it’s water-resistant up to a depth of 50 meters.
Battery longevity is one of the greatest pulls of Amazfit smartwatches and just like its other siblings, the Amazfit Stratos 3 also promises a long, two-week battery life. It also has a standalone music playback feature and the company says you can use its 2GB internal storage to store up to 400 tracks of 5MB each.
Elsewhere, the Amazfit Stratos comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy for connectivity with the Amazfit smartphone app. It’s also Amazfit’s only smartwatch in India to feature 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity.
Amazfit Stratos 3: Price and availability
The Amazfit Stratos 3 is priced at Rs 13,999 (~$184) and goes up against the Fitbit Versa Lite in the Indian market. However, the Versa might have an edge over it just because it also provides support for third-party apps. Amazfit watches are notorious for no third-party app support and the Stratos 3 is no different. However, it does have built-in GPS tracking which the Versa Lite lacks.
If you’re looking to buy the Amazfit Stratos 3, you can pick up a unit from Amazfit’s website or from Flipkart.
