Alexa-powered Amazon Fire TV Stick now available in the UK
Last year, Amazon announced the new Fire TV Stick and immediately started selling it in the US. It took a while, but the device, which comes with an Alexa-enabled voice remote, is now finally available in the UK. The online retailer is offering it for £39.99.
With Alexa’s help, you can open apps, search for music and TV shows, check the weather, and much more with your voice alone. Amazon’s digital assistant will definitely save you time when you just want to watch a specific movie or listen to your favorite songs. There are a bunch of different apps available for the device including Netflix, BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, BBC News and BBC Sport, as well as Prime Video of course.
In addition to launching the new Fire TV Stick in the UK, Amazon also announced a software update that will bring Alexa to all Fire TV devices in the UK. It will roll out to customers over the coming weeks. The update will basically upgrade every existing Fire TV Voice Remote to an Alexa Voice Remote, which means you’ll be able to use the digital assistant to control the older versions of Amazon’s media streamer. Those of you who don’t own a voice remote can also use Alexa, but only with the help of the Fire TV app for Android devices.
The new Fire TV Stick is already available for purchase. You can get it on Amazon by clicking the button below.
The device is also on sale at a few other retailers including Dixons Carphone, Argos, John Lewis, Tesco, Maplin, and Shop Direct if you prefer the brick and mortar experience.
