Amazon launches Fire TV Cube in India: 4K HDR streaming, hands-free Alexa, more
- Amazon has launched the Fire TV Cube in India.
- The new streaming box is available for Rs 12,999.
Amazon has offered several Fire TV devices in India for a while now, but one gadget that’s been missing in the market was the Fire TV Cube. Fortunately, Amazon India has now launched the device.
The Fire TV Cube is billed as the most powerful device in Amazon’s streaming portfolio, packing a hexa-core processor (S922X, Mali-G52 MP2 GPU), 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. As for actual video capabilities, you can expect 4K/60fps playback and 4K HDR capabilities via HDR 10, HDR 10+, and Dolby Vision.
Of course, a streaming device is nothing if you don’t have anything to stream. Fortunately, Amazon says you can stream Disney Plus Hotstar, Zee5, Voot, Netflix, YouTube, and (obviously) Prime Video. Other notable features include eight microphones for far-field voice assistance, HDMI CEC support, Bluetooth 5.0, Dolby Atmos 7.1, and ethernet support via the included adapter.
Amazon’s new streaming box comes in at Rs 12,999 (~$172) and will be available from today via Amazon India and selected Croma and Reliance outlets.
It’s worth pointing out that an HDMI cable isn’t included in the box, but you are allowed to add an Amazon Basics HDMI cable to your purchase at no extra cost. This is an introductory promotion, but there’s no word on when this expires.
