Amazfit's next smartwatch packs a slick curved screen
The Xiaomi-affiliated Huami brand has made a name for itself over the years thanks to its affordable wearables, but its latest smartwatch might be its most impressive yet.
Huami has revealed the Amazfit X on IndieGogo, and the standout feature is the 2.07-inch curved OLED screen. The display curves 92 degrees according to the company, although we’re guessing that’s based on an end-to-end measurement. Huami says the 200mAh battery is curved too, making the most of the form factor.
The Amazfit X also does away with buttons and a digital crown in favor of what seems to be a 3D Touch-style approach. This sees a linear actuator motor being used, presumably to simulate button presses on the display.
It wouldn’t be a wearable without some health and fitness features though, and the Huami device packs quite a few functions into its frame. You’ve got nine sports modes (e.g. walking, cycling, swimming), a heart-rate monitor, Spo2 measurement, sleep tracking, stress level monitoring, and sedentary reminders.
Other noteworthy features include 5ATM water resistance, seven day battery life (albeit with charging via a dedicated magnetic charger), message/calling notifications, event reminders, and customizable watchfaces.
The Huami Amazfit X has already surpassed its $20,000 goal on Indiegogo, sitting on just over $259,000 pledged as of writing with 30 days to go. The wearable has a slated retail price of $329, but Indiegogo users can grab it for as low as $149 (although this tier seems to be going fast).
