WordFinder best anagram solvers

There are a lot of uses for an anagram solver. It’s useful for things like word scrambles, but its most common use is as a helping hand for games like Scrabble or Words With Friends. Plus, it’s just fun to goof around and find fun ones. For instance, the phrase “debit card” is also an anagram for “bad credit.” That is now a thing you know. In any case, there are a ton of anagram solvers on the Internet for basically any platform you might own. Here are the best ones we could find.

The best anagram solvers for all platforms

What makes for a good anagram solver?

Good anagram solvers should be able to give you all of the options for a specific set of letters. In most cases, even the lower-quality ones could do it. Thus, we looked for products with some additional features as well. Every app and website can recognize blank or unknown letters by using a question mark. Additionally, the sites and apps all downloaded right, loaded quickly, and gave consistent results. Every site and app is free, free with ads, or has a single payment pro version except for one with a subscription. Finally, we listed each app’s and website’s supported dictionaries when we could find them.

We’ll go in alphabetical order so we’ll list Android first, then iOS, and then websites. All of the iOS apps work for both iPhone and iPad and should work just fine on the latest version of iOS.

Android anagram solvers

Anagram Solver

Price: Free (with ads)

anagram Solver is an excellent app for this kind of stuff. It’s also available on iOS and it’s there further down the list as well. This is a free tool with advertisement support. It boasts a library of over 310,000 words with a clean, easy-to-use UI. Additionally, it supports multi-word anagrams, various filters, blank letters for board games, and word definitions as well. There really isn’t much else to it. The app is simple, it works well, and it’s easy to use.

Crossword Solver King

Price: Free / $3.99

Crossword Solver King is an adequate anagram solver. Its primary function is crossword puzzle help but it can also solve anagrams if needed. You can use filters to find specific words and even look up definitions so you can tell people that what you put down is, in fact, a real word. The UI is quite simple and it shouldn’t take long to learn how to use the app. It also supports blank spaces for even more words. The app is entirely free or you can get the pro version for $3.99.

Scrabble Expert

Price: Free / $2.20

Scrabble Expert is an anagram solver specifically for Scrabble players. It has a bunch of features, including shorter words, Q words without the U, no vowel words, blank tile support, offline support, and more. It supports the TWL/OWL, SOWPODS/CSW, ENABLE, YAWL, and OSPD dictionaries. The premium version lets you search words up to 15 letters and removes ads. The UI is a little older looking, but it’s functional and easy enough to use.

Word Breaker

Price: Free / $1.99

Word Breaker is an older word game helper, but it’s one of the best. It comes with three themes, including a dark mode for night play. Additionally, the app lets you take screenshots and import it. It then recommends words based on the words already on the game board. This is great for Words With Friends or Scrabble especially. Some other features include blank tile support, support for over half a dozen languages, and it can even track remaining tiles in Scrabble and some other games. The pro version is relatively cheap as well. This one is also free on Google Play Pass if you have it.

WordFinder by YourDictionary

Price: Free / $1.99 per month / $17.99 per year

WordFinder is one of the less popular anagram solvers, but it’s still quite good. It supports well over a dozen word games, including the big ones like Scrabble and Words With Friends. The app is quite simple to use. You simply input your letters and it finds words for you. It supports the blank tile and the UI is simple enough. We would’ve liked to see improved offline support and we’re not fans of the subscription costs. Additionally, we’d like to use our own keyboard rather than the one from the app. However, if you don’t mind the ads, it works just fine.

iOS (iPhone and iPad) anagram solvers

Anagram Solver

Price: Free / $2.99

Anagram Solver is an app for iPhone and iPad. It boasts a library of over 280,000 words, multi-word anagrams, blank letters for Scrabble and similar games, and various filters to weed out words you don’t want. There’s also a crossword solver if you need one of those. The UI is fast and clean to an extent that it feels sterile, but it helps the effectiveness of the app. The pro version runs for $2.99 and we think it’s a fair enough price.

The Crossword & Anagram Solver

Price: Free / $1.99-$2.99

The Crossword and Anagram Solvers screenshot from iTunes

The Crossword & Anagram Solver is what the name implies. It predominately solves anagrams and also crossword puzzles. The crossword part is its main function and it does the job admirably. The anagram solver part is an extra function and costs $1.99 at least. The app supports blank tiles, shows definitions, and it supports things like iOS 13’s Dark Mode along with some other stuff. It doesn’t have the biggest feature set, but it’s fairly reliable for both things if you want to kill two birds with one stone.

Word Breaker

Price: Free / $1.99

Word Breaker is one of the best anagram solvers

Word Breaker is one of the more advanced anagram solvers for iPhone and iPad. It’s predominately for Words With Friends, but also has support for Scrabble and Wordfeud dictionaries. The features include three themes, a board solver mode that takes other words on the board into account, and a screenshot import feature. It basically works the same as the Android version above but with UI elements and controls that work better for iPhone and iPad. It’s also available in French and Dutch.

The Word Finder

Price: Free / $0.99

The Word Finder is one of the quicker and simpler anagram solvers. It works for a variety of board and word games, including Scrabble, WordFeud, and Words With Friends. You simply input the letters and find the words. It supports blank spaces, up to 20-letter words, and there are some filters for more advanced searches. Updates in late 2019 also made ads less intrusive. The pro version is cheap and it gets the job done if you need something simple.

Words with EZ Cheats

Price: Free / $1.99+

Words with EZ Cheat App Store screenshot

Words with EZ Cheats feels a little bit more flamboyant than we’d typically like in an anagram solver. However, it does get the job done. Its hallmark feature is the ability to auto-scan the game board in Words With Friends. It also includes the basics like a dictionary and some other stuff. We really only recommend this one for Words With Friends players and maybe if none of the others work for you. The biggest flaw with this one is its penchant for giving you obscure words that don’t work in Word With Friends.

Websites

Anagrammer.com

Price: Free

Anagrammer is one of the best anagram solvers

Anagrammer is one of the best websites for anagram solving. It supports blank tiles and you can search for words that start or end with certain letters. The site is easy enough to use and it seems optimized for mobile as you can see by the screenshot below. It also works with a variety of dictionaries, including TWL3, OSPD4, OSPD5, CSW15, SOWPODS, OWL2, TWL98, TWL06, ENABLE, and ENABLE2K. You can also set it for Scrabble US, Scrabble UK, and POGO.com. The ads are there, but it’s nothing too bad and we didn’t see any full screen or video ads. It’s a good all-around option.

Scrabble-solver.com

Price: Free

Scrabble Solver is one of the best anagram solvers

Scrabble Solver is another excellent anagram solver website. Like most, it supports blank tiles and a variety of different word games. It supports hook letters, words that contain certain letters, and you can choose words that begin or end with certain letters. The dictionaries support Scrabble US, Scrabble UK, Wordfeud US, Wordfeud UK, Words With Friends in English, and a generic US/UK dictionary for you physical board game folks. There are ads on the site, but again, there are no video ads or full screen ads that we could see.

Thewordfinder.com

Price: Free

The Word Finder is one of the best anagram solvers

The Word Finder is a popular option for word game players. There is an iOS version linked above if you have an iPhone or iPad and we do recommend the app version over the website version. The website version is clean and it works. The advanced options include the ability to take extra letters on the board into account. You can also sort by Words With Friends or Scrabble points for maximum score. The website does link each word to its definition as well in case you need that. The ads aren’t bad at all and consist of the same banner style ads without anything overly intrusive.

Wordplays.com

Price: Free

Wordplays is one of the best anagram solvers for android

Wordplays is the site we’d recommend first to our International readers. It supports anagram solvers for English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Swedish, Portuguese, and Dutch. It lacks a lot of the word game features of other websites but makes up for it by being very clean and easy to use. You can block or show offensive words as needed and sort them in a few different ways. It supports words up to 14 characters and it does support the blank tile with a question mark like most others. The ads are the same as the others without much intrusion.

Wordunscrambler.net

Price: Free

Word Unscrambler is a bit of a weird website. It has a ton of features but they’re not available on the same screen as the anagram solver function. The anagram solver is super basic, but effective and it does support blank or unknown letters. If you browse around the site, you can find a Scrabble and Words With Friends cheat section that lists every word up to a certain number of letters. We linked to that specific page on the website, but you can head back to the home page to view the others. It also works in Spanish, French, and German.
