Android 13 Easter Egg

TL;DR
  • Android 13 launched on August 15, 2022, less than six months ago.
  • Data shows that the update has made its way to 5.2% of all Android devices.

Since Android 13 launched, companies like Samsung, OnePlus, and more have been racing to push out the update to their phones. It’s been almost six months now and it appears that the OS has made its way to 5.2% of all Android devices.

According to 9To5Google, Android Studio just had its first update since August, providing our first look at the Android distribution stats for 2023. This information used to be available on Google’s official page and was updated every month, now Android Studio is the only place to find this data.

Based on the distribution chart, Google’s latest OS can be found on 5.2% of all Android devices. It’s also revealed that Android 12 and 12L account for 18.9% of devices, a jump up from its previous 13.5%.

As for the older versions of Android, the chart goes all the way down to KitKat. If you want to know what these numbers are, here’s how they breakdown:

  • Android 11: 24.4%
  • Android 10: 19.5%
  • Pie: 13.2%
  • Oreo: 9.5%
  • Nougat: 3.7%
  • Marshmallow: 2.8%
  • Lollipop: 2.1%
  • KitKat: 0.7%

It’s unknown for certain how these metrics were gathered. However, it’s believed it’s based on the Android devices that access the Google Play Store during a one-week period, according to 9To5Google.

This has been a fast adoption process compared to other OS releases. Part of that has to do with the speed at which Samsung has rolled out its One UI 5-flavored Android 13 update. In fact, Samsung recently finished pushing out One UI 5, shortly after publishing a post on its newsroom site claiming the release of One UI 5 was its fastest rollout yet.
