Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1 is here to make up for last week's Pixel 11 oversight

Being an early adopter can be a mixed bag. Sure, we all love being first in line to try out the latest tech, and sometimes that also means getting first dibs on new software designed to take advantage of it. But occasionally there’s a flip side to that, and while devs already know what to expect from older hardware, targeting the newest devices can introduce some unwelcome delays. Pixel 11 owners know exactly what we’re talking about, after getting left out from Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6 last week. Thankfully, they didn’t have to wait too long.

Late last Thursday, Google dropped its latest Android 17 QPR2 Beta release for its Pixel testing community. And while that included builds for the Pixel 6a all the way up through the Pixel 10 series (remember, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are getting too old to be eligible for this release), we sure expected that list to also include the new Pixel 11 models. And yet — nothing.

Thankfully, Google’s Mishaal Raman was around to offer a little insight into that development, and explained at the time that Pixel 11 builds were indeed in the works, and should be forthcoming. It’s been a few days now, but we’re finally getting access for the Pixel 11 series in the form of Android 17 QPR 2 Beta 6.1.

This time around, everyone’s included: Pixel 6a through 10-series devices get build CP41.260831.007.A3, while build CP41.260831.011 covers all our Pixel 11 models.

We don’t get any fresh notes on bugfixes, and instead, Google’s warning us about a potential issue with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold:

Pixel 11 Pro Fold users may have to re-enroll Face Unlock on Pixel 11 Pro Fold for it to function properly.

That’s a pretty minor hiccup, all things considered, but we appreciate the heads-up, all the same. We wonder if that ultimately ended up contributing to the delay, but we’re just happy to have a Beta 6(ish) release for all modern Pixels now.
