TL;DR
  • The first Android 17 QPR3 beta reportedly brought new diagnostic tools to Pixel phones.
  • These tools can help you troubleshoot problems with calls, mobile data, and Wi-Fi.
  • It turns out that these tools actually launched on Pixel 11 phones a while ago.

Update (4:17 AM ET): Well, it looks like these new diagnostic tools aren’t actually new. We’ve since discovered that they were previously available on Pixel 11 phones in the US, although we hadn’t seen any announcement of their availability. Nevertheless, our fingers are crossed that they come to older devices too.

Original article: October 14, 2026 (2:32 AM ET): Google launched the Android 17 QPR3 beta program on Pixels early this month, bringing a ton of bug fixes with the first beta. Now, it turns out that the first beta also brings some welcome tools if you’ve been having issues with calls or data connectivity.

Android Police spotted the addition of three new diagnostic tools on Pixel phones running Android 17 QPR3 beta 1. These tools are for calls, mobile data, and Wi-Fi. We can confirm seeing these new tools in this beta release. Check out our screenshot below.

These new tools join the existing diagnostics tools for Bluetooth, charging, and touch functionality. I imagine that these new options could be particularly useful on older Pixels, as some users previously reported unreliable connectivity on these models.

Either way, I’m glad to see these utilities integrated into the OS itself on Pixel phones. These phones do have the Pixel Repair Diagnostics app, but this is hidden behind a keypad combination. So having these tools in a prominent location should make for a quicker, more convenient experience if you’re having trouble with your device.

The first Android 17 QPR3 beta also hides a potential feature for Googlebook owners, as we found evidence of a Phone Unlock option. This would let you unlock your Googlebook if your unlocked phone is nearby, akin to the feature on Chrome OS.
