Google 2019 IO Active Android Devices

As part of Google I/O 2019, the company announced a new milestone in terms of the number of active hardware devices that run some version of the Android OS. According to Google’s Senior Director for Android, Stephanie Cuthbertson, there are over 2.5 billion hardware devices that are now currently running Android in some form.

This is a big leap up from the last time that Google announced this kind of statistic. In May 2017 at Google I/O, the company revealed that it had exceeded the 2 billion mark for active Android devices. That means there are now over 500 million more Android devices that have launched, and are still active, in the past two years or so.
