Google has just teased Android 18, and here's when we'll learn more

We’re still months away from Android 18 landing on our phones, but Google has just given us the first taste of what’s coming. Google is bringing back its Android Dev Summit on October 28 and 29, and while the event is primarily for developers, something on the agenda should interest the rest of us too: Android 18.

The company has published the two-day schedule, and Android 18 appears alongside a tease of “powerful new graphics features.” Google isn’t telling us exactly what those features are yet, but this is one of the first official breadcrumbs we’ve received about the next major version of Android.

There’s another reason to keep an eye on the event. Google says Android leadership will take the stage for a keynote covering the latest Android features and updates. That makes the summit an obvious place for the company to start talking more seriously about Android 18, although there’s no confirmation yet that we’ll get a proper Android 18 announcement there.

Beyond Android 18, the summit is split across four main tracks covering AI experiences, Android XR, app foundations, and tools and performance. So expect plenty of developer-heavy material, plus clues about where Google wants Android to go next, especially around AI and XR.

Android Dev Summit 2026 takes place October 28–29 at Google’s Bay View campus in Mountain View, California. In-person attendance is limited to selected professional Android developers, although developers can apply for a spot. Everyone else can watch the keynote live.

So, no, Android 18 isn’t being unveiled just yet. But with Google now putting its name on the calendar and already teasing new graphics capabilities, we probably won’t have to wait long to learn what the next big Android update has in store.
