Android Fast Pair could soon support even more accessories, and that's good news for your health

- Fast Pair on Android could soon support health-related devices.
- Code already confirms support for Bluetooth BP monitors, but it could also include glucometers, pulse oximeters, smart weighing scales, and other similar devices.
- Along with this, support devices could also let you choose whether or not to sync data with Health Connect, directly at the time of setup.
Google’s Fast Pair is one of Android’s most convenient features, which lets you connect Bluetooth accessories (and verify their authenticity) without the usual hassle. It already works with a variety of accessories for your Android device, including wireless earbuds or headphones, smart glasses, keyboards, mice, styluses, etc. Last year, Google also expanded Fast Pair support to hearing aids, making them much easier to connect to your device.
Now, Google appears to be working on expanding support to other health devices, such as BP monitors, smart weighing scales, and more.

Google now appears to be working on supporting a broader category of health devices that connect seamlessly to your Android phone or tablet through Fast Pair. We discovered a new category, referred to as HEALTH_DEVICE, while poking around in version 26.41.30 of Google Play Services.

Beyond this mention in the list of supported devices, the code also suggests a potentially new setup experience, where users can choose which data to store on and sync with the device.

As with other APK teardowns, it is difficult to say when this feature could be implemented. Fast Pair support for hearing aids came nearly a year after we first spotted references to it, so these new additions could take time too.
