Anker's new GaN chargers are tiny but pack a sizeable charging punch
- Anker has announced its second-generation GaN chargers.
- The Nano II series feature even smaller footprints with 30W, 45W, and 60W outputs.
- They’re now available to preorder but will ship in June.
Anker is rolling out its second generation of compact GaN chargers. The Nano II series builds on the company’s previous gallium nitride power bricks that pack high wattages in small packages.
Although the original Anker GaN line was already pretty compact, the Nano II GaN chargers shrink down even further. The 45W and 60W variants feature foldaway prongs and weigh 85 grams and 150 grams, respectively. While the 30W option packs fixed prongs, Anker claims it’s nearly 60% smaller than an equivalent MacBook USB-C charger. It also weighs just 39.6 grams.
The Nano II series uses Anker’s GaN II technology or the latest revision of its gallium nitride-based components. The semiconductor, billed as the successor to silicon, offers higher temperature limits and higher power handling capabilities in a smaller area. This allows companies to shrink the size of chargers without decreasing their potential power output.
The chargers also come with USB-C outlets, support USB Power Delivery, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0, and Samsung’s Super Fast Charging. Anker’s own PowerIQ 3.0 power management tech also features.
