Android's fiercest tablet competition heats up on October 28
Oct 19, 2026 — 2:07 PM ET

- Apple’s been rumored to be planning another fall hardware event, this one introducing the latest MacBook Pro and iPad models.
- The company has now confirmed its plans by sending out invites to an October 28 launch.
- In addition to a touchscreen MacBook Pro, we’re anticipating an OLED iPad Mini and M6 iPad.
This fall has been all gas, no brakes for Apple. The company started off strong with the introduction of its iPhone 18 Pro lineup and its first-ever foldable model, the iPhone Duo. Then just last week we got to meet Apple’s new smart home lineup, including the HomeView display and a whole family of Apple Home connected devices. But we’ve also had one more big Apple launch event on our radar, after hearing plans about possible laptop and tablet news. And now, the invites are finally going out.
While that earlier report pointed to October 27 as the likely date, we can now confirm that Apple’s instead planning to unveil its new hardware on October 28, according to invitations shared by the likes of Marques Brownlee over on X.
With that “Pro and tell” tagline, Apple’s pretty directly teasing the announcement of new MacBook Pro laptops. We already looked at rumors suggesting that these could run Apple’s new M6 chip and finally offer touchscreen input.
Beyond the laptops, we’re also anticipating some tablet launches at this event. Those have been tipped to include a new 14-inch iPad, now running that same M6 chip coming to MacBooks, as well as a refreshed iPad Mini. There, we’ve heard to expect an OLED screen, some speaker upgrades, and a new front-facing camera layout.
Of course, this is Apple, and for as much as we’ve already heard leak, there’s always the possibility for that “one more thing,” ready to surprise us. With that in mind, we’ll definitely be watching this launch live, and bringing you breaking coverage of anything else Apple has to share.
Check back with us a week from Wednesday for full coverage of Apple’s new hardware.
