- Ark: Survival Evolved has been released for Android in the Google Play Store, along with an iOS version.
- The free-to-play game is a port of the popular console-PC title of the same name.
- Players must learn to survive in a land populated by dinosaurs and other creatures.
One of the most popular survival-based games on PCs and consoles has officially made its way to your smartphone. As promised earlier this year, the Android and iOS versions of Ark: Survival Evolved are now available to download.
Ark: Survival Evolved was first released in June 2015 for the PC, via Steam Early Access from Studio Wildcard, and was later released for the Xbox One in December 2015 and the PlayStation 4 in December 2016. The game finally came out of early access for all those platforms in August 2017 and has sold sold millions of copies, with a number of paid DLC releases launched for the game as well. It’s also coming to the Nintendo Switch later in 2018.

The free-to-play mobile game was developed by War Drum Studios, in collaboration with Ark’s main development team at Studio Wildcard. The mobile version will keep the same basic gameplay and features found on the console and PC versions, as players explore a land populated by all kinds of dinosaurs and other creatures. Players will have to build a base, craft weapons and items, collect food and resources and try to explore and tame some of the dinosaurs they come across. Of course, some of these creatures may not be able to be tamed. There’s a single-player mode in the mobile version, or your can play with up to 50 online gamers in multiplayer matches.
War Drum Studios says that it plans to give Ark: Survival Evolved mobile gamers as close to the same gameplay experience as they can find on the console and PC platforms. There will be a few differences though, including custom user interfaces and controls for touchscreens, along with a faster gameplay style. Since the mobile version is a free-to-play game, gamers will have the option to purchase in-game currency with real money. This currency, called Amber, can be used to buy items directly, along with food and special buffs. Amber can also be collected without real world money in the game, from deposits in the game world. Its also available from large predators and even by watching in-game ads.
War Drum Studios is also offering a special in-game Primal Pass for $3.99 a month or $34.99 for a year. It lets gamers play with no ads, while also offering a permanent double XP buff, reserved slots on all servers, early access to special events, and access to exclusive servers that only offer buffs and items for payment, with no access to paid structures.
