See the secondary display on the next ROG Phone in action
- A new video suggests the back of the next ROG Phone will sport a secondary display.
- Like the AniMe Matrix screen on the Zephyrus G14, it looks like you’ll be able to customize it to display different information.
After ASUS started teasing the existence of its next ROG Phone last week, the leaks have come in at a steady clip. On Monday, we got to see the phone’s back, which seemed to confirm the company’s next handset will be known as the ROG Phone 5, not ROG Phone 4. But that photo left us with more questions than answers ultimately.
To start, what’s that red button on the side do? And what about that component that has replaced the RGB ROG logo?
A short clip uploaded to Weibo and spotted by MySmartPrice answers at least that second question. As you can see from the video, the ROG Phone 5 will feature a secondary screen reminiscent of the ROG Zephyrus G14’s AniMe Matrix display. Unfortunately, the person who uploaded the video didn’t say what you do with the tech. However, if the G14 is any indication, you’ll be able to customize the display to see things like battery life and audio levels. It may also display notifications.

Today’s leak helps paint a clearer picture of what we can expect from the ROG Phone 5, but there’s still a lot we don’t know about its internals. A benchmark uploaded to GeekBench in December suggests the phone will feature a Snapdragon 888 processor and at least 8GB of RAM. Some reports have said it will also include a 6,000mAh battery and 65W fast charging. Last year, ASUS announced the ROG Phone 3 in July and released it in August. With the leaks coming so early this time around, it seems like we can expect the ROG Phone 5 sooner rather than later, which should help answer those questions.
