It's official: The ASUS Zenfone 7 series arrives next week
- ASUS has quietly confirmed the Zenfone 7 series is coming on August 26.
- The firm’s use of the term “series” suggests we will see more than one Zenfone 7 model.
The ASUS Zenfone 6 was one of the coolest smartphones of 2019, packing two cameras on a motorized swivel that pulled double duty as both front and rear shooters. Now, ASUS has confirmed that its successor will be launching next week.
The Taiwanese brand quietly listed a live-stream link of the ASUS Zenfone 7 series’ upcoming launch, confirming an August 26 launch date at 2PM local time (6AM GMT, 2AM ET). You can check out the link below.
It’s noteworthy that ASUS is calling it the Zenfone 7 series, implying there’ll be more than one device on offer. There’s no official word on what to expect from additional devices in the Zenfone 7 family though.
As for Zenfone 7 specs, database listings suggest the phone will pack the same 5,000mAh battery as the Zenfone 6. It also looks like the older phone’s slow 18W charging could make way for 30W top-ups.
Last year’s model stood out thanks to its $499 price tag, coming in cheaper than the likes of the OnePlus 7T and other flagship phones. We’re guessing ASUS will follow the trend of higher price tags with the Zenfone 7, owing to the Snapdragon 865 series processor and associated 5G components.
Personally, I’m hoping that ASUS holds onto that nifty swivel camera mechanism, as it gave you great selfies while also facilitating easy panoramas and unique shooting angles. You can check out our entire Zenfone 7 wishlist at the link.
