Renders and specs leak for ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip and vanilla model
- Renders for the upcoming ASUS Zenfone 8 and ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip just leaked.
- The renders show that the Flip model retains the iconic flippy cam, while the vanilla model does not.
- There are also some specs on offer with this leak.
Next week, ASUS will launch the latest in its line of Zenfone flagships. However, thanks to Ishan Agarwal (and 91 Mobiles), we now have some renders and specs for the unannounced phones a bit ahead of schedule.
So far, we have information about two of the new Zenfone models: the vanilla Zenfone 8 as well as the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip. The former was (obviously) expected, but the latter’s moniker is brand new knowledge.
As you might have guessed, the “Flip” branding refers to the iconic flippy rear camera seen on previous Zenfone devices. The mechanism flips the rear camera module to the front of the phone, negating the need for a selfie camera. It looks like the Zenfone 8 Flip will retain this design element, while the vanilla model will land with a more conventional design.
Check out the renders below and continue on to see some leaked specs.
ASUS Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip
Starting with the ASUS Zenfone 8 renders (top), you can clearly see a dual-lens camera system on the back and a left-aligned display cutout for the selfie camera on the front. The display is on the smaller size at 5.92-inches, allegedly with a FHD+ resolution. The rear camera system could have a 64MP main sensor paired with a 12MP macro lens.
Inside, Agarwal reaffirms that the Snapdragon 888 processor is on offer, which ASUS already confirmed. Agarwal says it could have an 8GB/128GB variant when it comes to RAM and internal storage respectively. However, it’s likely ASUS would offer different storage configurations at different price points.
The Zenfone 8 could also have a 4,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. Wireless charging is still unconfirmed, but unlikely. Do note that the phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is always nice to see.
With the ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip, we clearly have a bigger, more premium device. It could have a 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Since the flippy cam is onboard, that display is completely uninterrupted with no notch or cutout. The bezels also look quite small.
The phone’s larger size allegedly accommodates a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. It also would have the Snapdragon 888, as confirmed by ASUS. The triple cam on the back is apparently a 64MP main, an 8MP telephoto, and a 12MP macro — an interesting choice, if true. The lack of a wide-angle shooter might be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
The ASUS Zenfone 8 Flip and its vanilla counterpart will launch on May 12. Stay tuned for more info!
