You may not believe it, but AT&T’s (now retired) prepaid brand GoPhone has been around since the 80s. While the carrier’s prepaid plans have undergone some serious (and much-needed) changes over the past few years, its confusing and antiquated name stayed the same. Well, today marks a new era: GoPhone is no more. Long live AT&T PREPAID!

AT&T’s prepaid plans have been a savior for me the past four years, especially when I’m traveling across various North American countries.

Although the name has changed, the plans themselves remain the same: for $65 a month ($60 with AutoPay), you get unlimited talk, text, and data (AT&T will throttle the speed after 22 GB). For $45 a month ($40 with AutoPay), you get unlimited talk and text as well as 6 GB of LTE data. Both of these plans include talk and text to, from, and within Canada and Mexico, and you get to use your data in those countries without extra roaming fees. I know that I’ve said it multiple times before, but AT&T’s prepaid plans have been a savior for me the past four years, especially when I’m traveling across various North American countries.

To top it off, the US carrier will be offering two months’ worth of free service to those who activate and keep a new PREPAID line on select plans for 12 months or more. If you open a new PREPAID account with AT&T after July 14, the company will essentially refund the amount you’ve paid for the 3rd and the 12th months after a year. If you have your own device and are looking for cheap phone plans that offer plenty of high speed data, look no further:
