AT&T pushes July security patch for the Galaxy Note 5
Hey AT&T Note 5 owners, see that unfamiliar icon in your status bar? That – believe it or not – is an update. From AT&T. Now, set aside your disbelief and can come to terms with the fact that the July security patch for the AT&T Galaxy Note 5 is awaiting you. It’s a small file at just 22 MB and shouldn’t take more than a few seconds to download and install. So savor the AT&T update joy while it lasts.
Samsung has already released the breakdown of the contents of this month’s security maintenance release (SMR) if that’s the kind of light reading you’re into. For the rest of us, just keep an eye out for the OTA notification and install or check for it manually by going to Settings > About device > Software updates.
As with all security releases, this is one update you don’t want to delay installing. Considering how long it took AT&T to roll out Marshmallow, you should probably also be grateful you got an update of any variety. Verizon and T-Mobile have already released the same patch.
Have you got the latest patch yet? What are your thoughts on AT&T’s update record?
