AT&T will offer free Spotify, but there's a catch
This morning, AT&T announced free Spotify Premium memberships for AT&T subscribers starting August 6. However, there’s a big catch.
You can get in on the deal if you’re an Unlimited &More or Unlimited &More Premium subscriber, who can pick free access to Spotify, HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, Starz, VRV, or Pandora. Other AT&T subscribers get a six-month Spotify Premium, after which they must cough up $9.99 each month to continue using the service.

If you don’t have a Spotify account, you can sign up for one through AT&T’s site. If you already have a Spotify account, you can keep your account and still sign up for the free Premium access through AT&T’s site.
AT&T’s announcement today is seemingly a direct response to Verizon, which offers free Apple Music memberships to subscribers on its Unlimited plans. Those on Verizon’s Start and Do More Unlimited plans get Apple Music for six months, while the Get More and Play More Unlimited plans include Apple Music for however long subscribers stay with Verizon.
