We asked, you told us: Most of you don't use battery saver mode often, if at all
When it comes to using a phone, there’s nothing worse than your device running out of battery when you need it most. For years, manufacturers have offered battery saving modes on their phones to avoid that exact moment. But just how often do you need such a feature when 4,500mAh batteries have become commonplace on phones such as the OnePlus 8T and Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra? With that in mind, we wanted to find out just how many of you use the battery saving feature on your phone.
Do you ever use your phone’s battery saver mode?
Results
We published the poll on December 1, and more than 2,000 of you voted. Surprisingly, 33.8% of you said you never use the battery saver mode on your phone. There are likely a couple of things at play here. To start, as much as some of us like to complain about how big phones have gotten in recent years, the plus side has been that most modern devices come with much bigger batteries than their predecessors. The pandemic has also likely played a part, with some people using their phones less than they did when going outside was the norm.
In a close second, 29.1% said you use the feature, but not very often. With substantially fewer votes, 10.3% said they use battery-saver a few times a week, and 15.1% said they use it nearly every day. Lastly, 11.8% said they rarely turn off the feature. When you combine those results together, more Android Authority readers take advantage of the battery saving mode on their phone than not.
Comments
- Drone9: If you need battery saver, you are using the wrong phone.
- Rahul Pai: Pre-COVID I used to use it frequently. but recently I rarely leave the house so no :/
- Gustang: I always turn it on. When charging to 100% and it makes the battery safer auto turned off, I unplug and turn it back on.
- Tony Talks: I use battery saving mode on occasion. It can be helpful if I happen to be outside and need to stretch my battery life to its limits. Otherwise, I usually can always last all day (pun intended) with no worries.
That’s it for this poll. As always, thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and share your thoughts. If you have any final thoughts on the subject, drop a comment below.
