Here are some beautiful shots taken with the new Pixels
Our quick camera shootout can show you what the Pixel and Pixel XL are capable of when it comes in to quick, no-fuss shots in less than ideal lighting. But that kind of shots doesn’t tell you much about how the camera performs at its best.
If you want to see how the Pixel and Pixel XL perform in great conditions and when you take the time to tweak the settings, Google shared a gallery of images taken with the two phones.
Some of the shots are truly spectacular and all of them look more like the product a good DSLR, rather than a smartphone. The score of 89 – the highest ever – that the Pixels got in DxOMark’s ranking seems entirely deserved.
That said, it’s important to remember that this gallery has been curated to put the Pixel in the best possible light. Very likely, the shots were taken by seasoned photographers with professional equipment, and a lot of preparation went into each shot. Some of the images may have been edited. For a more realistic gallery of Pixels samples, we’ll have to wait for our review units.
A quick technical recap: the Pixel and Pixel XL feature 12.3MP Sony IMX378 sensors with 1.55-micron pixel, hybrid autofocus (phase detection and laser detection), and f/2.0 lenses.
