Business apps are a tough subject. There are a variety of variables to consider. That may include team size, business size, how well the app scales to demand, and tons of other stuff. Some apps are great for huge teams while others do better for business people individually. Some businesses are always in the market for better stuff while others opt to make their own solutions. Native solutions make lists like this difficult because usually a company already has software suites for employees.

There are some great all-around options, though, and we think we’ve found them. Here are the best business apps for Android! These apps work best for smaller or medium-sized businesses. Larger businesses probably need more customized enterprise solutions and that’s an entirely different conversation.

The best business apps for Android

Asana

Price: Free / $9.99 per member per month

Asana is one of those business apps that everyone should try. It’s a to-do manager that allows you to assign tasks to all of your people. You can add as many subsections as needed, assign tasks directly, and add comments as well as attachments. You can use it for free with basic features for up to 15 people or pay $9.99 per month per person for the complete package. It scales up well, and should work for most small and medium-sized teams. It works for larger teams as well, but it could get fairly expensive that way.

CamScanner

Price: Free / $4.99 per month / $49.99 per year

CamScanner is a very useful tool. It essentially turns your camera into a scanner. It lets you scan documents, business cards, receipts, etc. From there, you can edit the PDFs that the app makes if needed. Additionally, it lets you quickly share those things with colleagues, your HR department, or wherever else. There is even a faxing option for a nominal fee. This isn’t a great one for teams. However, it’s one of the excellent individual business apps. It’s especially useful for those who deal with expenses, documents, and other such things frequently.

G Suite

Price: Free / Varies

Google has a delightful suite of office apps under the G Suite banner. You get support for documents, spreadsheets, presentations, PDFs, images, notes, and a whole lot more. There is even a team messaging service with support for texts, calls, and video calls. They are all also cross-platform. That means they work on both mobile and your computer. Because of this, it’s a great one-stop shop for all of that basic office stuff. Google Drive itself is a cloud storage app that gives you 15GB for free or you can pay for more. It also all integrates into Gmail and Google Calendar. Google has a G Suite option specifically for businesses. It’s definitely among the best mobile apps for business use.

Google My Business

Price: Free

Google My Business helps make businesses visible on Google Search and Google Maps. Those are huge potential sources for business. In 2017, they cannot be ignored. The app lets you update facts about your business like your hours of operation, name, and address. You can even manage multiple locations if needed. That makes it one of the important business apps for small businesses, new businesses, and basically any business without a web presence yet.

Microsoft 365 Business

Price: Free / $5-$20 per user per month

Microsoft OneDrive is one of the best business apps for android

Microsoft has a suite of apps similar to G Suite. You have the name brand stuff like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on both mobile and on the web. There is also a chat service with text, video, and voice communication. A Business 365 subscription also nets you cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive as well as additional tools. We also particularly liked Office Lens. It’s a scanner app specifically for business use. Microsoft has pricing options for enterprise and business use separate from the usual consumer stuff. Both Drive and Microsoft Office have their pros and cons. The one that’s best depends mostly on your needs. You can’t go wrong either way.

PayPal apps

Price: Free / Fees vary

PayPal is one of the better business apps, especially for small and medium sized businesses. A ton of businesses use PayPal to manage transactions and invoices. Sometimes, it’s also used to pay employees. You can set up a business account that simplifies both sending and receiving money. The mobile version comes with fingerprint support, the ability to check your PayPal (and PayPal Credit balance), and more. PayPal Business is PayPal’s app specifically for business use. We recommend both.

Slack

Price: Free / $6.67-$12.50 per user per month

Slack is perhaps the best app of its kind. It’s a chat app specifically for business use. It features a clean, simple interface, multiple channels, conference calls, document sharing, and even a chatbot. It also includes integration with a lot of other third-party apps and websites like Google Drive, Asana, Giphy (because having fun is important too), and a ton of others. This one scales very well. That makes it good for small, medium, or even large businesses. It’s also a great option if you just want a chat service without subscribing to a lot more like you do with G Suite and Microsoft 365 Business.

Square Point of Sale

Price: Free / Fees vary

Square Register is one of the better business apps for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and mobile businesses. It’s essentially a simple point-of-sale system. It also requires a magnetic stripe reader. Square provides a basic one for free. However, better options may cost a few bucks. Customers swipe their cards and pay you money for your goods or services. There are no upfront payments, although Square does take a 2.75% cut of every purchase. The app also lets you track inventory, send receipts, apply discounts, issue refunds, and check out real-time sales data. It’s capable of accepting Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. The newest models also accept card chips and NFC payments from Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, and Android Pay. Those run $49 at the time of this writing.

Zoom Cloud Meetings

Price: Free / $14.99-$19.99 per month

Zoom is a video conferencing app and one of the better, more modern options. It supports up to 200 concurrent participants. The exact number changes for each price tier. The service also boasts screen sharing services, presentation features, and above-average connection stability. It scales up well and the app is fantastic. Google Hangouts Meet is a decent option for smaller teams. GoToMeeting is another excellent selection with over 100 concurrent participants. Of course, the classic Cisco WebEx Meeting service is the old favorite. You can check out our best video conferencing apps list here for more options.

Any authenticator app

Price: Free

Two-step verification is an absolute must these days. It prevents hackers from getting your data as easily as they normally would. Additionally, it keeps your contacts, files, and information safer. There are a few authenticator apps on Google Play. Google has one, Microsoft has one, and LastPass has one as well. LastPass is also a great password manager for those who need something like that. Many apps, like Newton, include two-step authentication on their own. Still, you should enable it whenever possible. It’s just a smart idea, especially if your device and accounts contain sensitive company data. We have a list of the best two-factor authentication apps linked up at the button above.
