best escape games for android

Escape games are a sub-genre of puzzle games. They are vastly better in real life. However, there are some games that have similar elements. For those who may not know, escape games have you placed in a room or a situation, and your goal is to escape. You’ve likely dealt with this mechanic in some form before. Some developers use it as part of a larger experience, while others use it as the main mechanic. Some are simple, while others have complex storylines. It runs the gamut, so our picks for the best escape games for Android are listed below!

We’d also like to mention the Can You Escape series (Google Play link). It’s an excellent arcade series overall.

The best escape games for Android

Adventure Escape series

Price: Free to play

Adventure Escape is a series of escape games from Haiku Games. They are a series of games that follow a protagonist trying to solve a mystery. At their core, each game has you solving mysteries and then getting out of danger alive. It features decent graphics and simple mechanics, and the storylines aren’t half-bad. There are nine games in total, each free to download. There are in-app purchases, but they’re mostly just for stuff like hints.

All That Remains: Part 1

Price: Free

All That Remains: Part 1 is one of the newer escape games. The main character and his sister are trapped in a secret bunker by their father. Your goal is to escape it. The game includes a camera function to take pictures of clues. It also includes various puzzles, a decent soundtrack, and an auto-save feature. The Part 1 portion implies that more titles in the series are coming. We certainly hope so because this one was pretty good.

Doors: Origins

Price: Free

In Doors: Origins, rather than attempting to flee a confined space, players navigate from portal to portal, continuously striving to progress. Although the door to the subsequent area remains visible, unlocking it requires solving puzzles. While some may categorize this as more of a puzzle game than an escape room experience, one could contend that an escape room essentially represents an elaborate puzzle box.

The House of Da Vinci

Price: $4.99

The House of Da Vinci is an older but outstanding escape room game. You end up in Leonardo Da Vinci’s house to search for the man yourself. The game includes decent graphics, various puzzles and riddles, many Da Vinci-themed rooms, and more. In terms of gameplay, it’s a similar experience to The Room. That includes dark environments, smooth movement, and the puzzle inside a puzzle thing. There are some tiny objects that are hard to pick up, and the game is fairly difficult compared to most of its competitors, but that’s why we find it charming. It’s also a single purchase with no micro-transactions.

Monument Valley 1 and 2

Price: $3.99 each

The Monument Valley series is among the most iconic mobile puzzle games ever. They are not escape games strictly by the definition of the genre. However, each level puts you in an area you must avoid. The levels turn, flip, twist, and do all kinds of stuff. The illusory imagery is simply phenomenal to behold. The first game runs for $3.99 with an in-app purchase for some DLC. The second game also goes for $3.99 right now. Both of these are phenomenal puzzle games, even if they aren’t strictly escape games. They focus a lot more on the flashiness of the genre rather than actual difficulty. You can play this one for free on Google Play Pass if you use it.

The Room series

Price: $0.99-$4.99 each

The Room is a series of puzzle games by Fireproof Games. They are perhaps the most iconic escape room games ever made. Each game has you in a beautifully crafted room filled with beautifully crafted things. Your job is to figure out all of the puzzles and escape the room, puzzle box, dollhouse, or whatever else the game throws at you. The puzzles can be fairly intricate, detailed, and well-hidden. The graphics are truly exquisite. Each game has its own set of unique mechanics, but it follows a similar core, arcane story. The series has four games, and you can get all of them for under $10. Newer installments include multiple endings, cloud saves, and other modern features.

Escape Machine City: Airborne

Price: Free

Seeking an escape beyond the confines of mere rooms? Look no further than Escape Machine City: Airborne, where you’re tasked with fleeing an airborne metropolis adrift in the sky, isolated and devoid of communication. This adventure blends mystery with the urgency of escaping a vessel as you embark on a quest to unravel its enigmatic secrets. Brace yourself for a journey where the scenery transcends the confines of conventional escape rooms!

Rusty Lake / Cube Escape series

Price: Free / Up to $2.99 each

The Rusty Lake series is a long-running set of escape games. Each game ties into the main premise through its location. Each game has you finding objects, solving puzzles, and trying to escape your situation. The franchise has nine games in total. Each one is completely free to play and supported by advertising. The graphics are a little simple, but most of the games are free. There is one premium game for $2.99, and it’s also excellent. The developers also have the Rusty Lake series, a set of premium puzzle games with similar mechanics. The developers also recently released Samsara (Google Play link), another escape game with many of the same game elements as the Rusty Lake series, but isn’t part of Cube Escape or Rusty Lake.

Tiny Room Collection

Price: Free / $9.20

Tiny Room Collection is an escape room game with multiple rooms. The player chooses the room and solves the puzzle from there. The rooms are well-designed, with plenty of hiding spaces for clues. The developer says the first seven levels don’t have any ads, but some users found some anyway. In any case, you can remove all of the ads for a single price. Other than the advertising being a little annoying sometimes, the game is fun to play and scratches that itch.

The Office Quest

Price: Free

The Office Quest offers a contemporary twist on the classic escape room experience, immersing you in a lively journey to break free from your mundane workplace. It presents a refreshing take on the escape room concept with a delightful blend of humor, diverse characters to encounter, hidden pathways to discover, and mind-bending puzzles to unravel. Unlike traditional scenarios that can feel somber or foreboding, this adventure promises a more upbeat and lighthearted atmosphere, ensuring a thrilling escape without the looming threat of peril.
