10 best fantasy sports apps for most major sports
CBS Fantasy Sports
Price: Free
CBS Sports Fantasy is one of a few all-in-one fantasy sports apps. It features live and mock drafts, season projections for each player, player news, draft help, and more. The team management pages are clean and unobtrusive. That’s a good thing since there is so much information to digest. It covers fantasy baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. That means you can hop from one to the next every year as needed. It has a few issues here and there. Most issues aren’t too bad, though.
DraftKings
Price: Free / Varies per league
You’ve probably heard of DraftKings before. They boast about huge winnings that no one ever gets through their daily and weekly fantasy pools. It’s true that you’re probably not going to quit your job become a full time fantasy jockey. However, the app can still be fun. It supports a ton of sports, including fantasy basketball, golf, baseball, soccer, football, hockey, and even Nascar, MMA, and the CFL. It’s a bit scammy, but it does have free games that you can play as well as paid. We don’t recommend the expensive paid leagues. That’s just throwing away money. Otherwise, there should be some fun stuff here for most.
Draft Punk
Price: Free / $1.99
Draft Punk is for fantasy football only. It allows you to do perform mock drafts, track over 1,000 players, and more. You can also add your league’s scoring settings for a more personalized mock draft. It’s an excellent companion app for fantasy football fans. Additionally, the app has a ton of data sourced from all kinds of places. Most draft kit style stuff like this is online only. We guess football is special in this case. This is a good one for fantasy football fans. Sleeper is another excellent app in this space as well.
ESPN Fantasy Sports
Price: Free
ESPN Fantasy Sports is one of the most popular fantasy sports apps. It supports the core sports. It has fantasy basketball, football, hockey, and baseball. You can create private leagues or join public leagues. It also comes with Material Design, player rankings, projections, mock drafts, and more. You can even get weekly emails to track your performance. It has some problems. Most all-in-one fantasy sports apps do. However, it’s nothing overly serious. They also recently migrated their Streak or Cash game into this app. It’s not very good yet.
FanDuel
Price: Free / Varies by league
FanDuel is a lot like DraftKings. It’s a fantasy sports platform that involves real money. You can essentially bet your fantasy team against everyone else’s. The winner takes home prizes. Unlike DraftKings, this one doesn’t have any reliable free options. They have a bunch of cheap options, though. You can also set up a league with just your friends. They collect the money and dole it out to the winners. We’re not sure how this one didn’t tick the Google Play in-app purchases tag. In any case, it’s a lot of fun, but we don’t recommend spending a ton of money on this. They also include brackets for stuff like March Madness.

Fantasy Football Draft Wizard
Price: Free with in-app purchases
Fantasy Football Draft Wizard is one of the better fantasy football apps. It features mock drafts, info on most players, cheat sheets, a draft analyzer, and more. It also features a live draft assistant. The app is compatible with a number of platforms, including Yahoo, CBS, NFL.com, MyFantasyLeague, RT Sports, Fantrax, and NFFC. This one can get a little expensive. That price may drive many away and that’s fine. There are other draft kit and mock draft apps out there that cost less if you’re on a budget. The developers also have fantasy apps for baseball as well.
Podcast Addict
Price: Free / $0.99 per month / $9.99 per year
Podcast Addict is one of the best podcast apps on mobile. It’s not a typical fantasy sports app. There are a variety of fantasy sports podcasts out there. That includes daily or weekly discussions about players, projections, and more. It’s a good listen for those long days at the office or during commutes. The more info you have, the better you’re likely to do. The app lets you find the ones you like, download them for offline listening, and keep track of the latest episodes. The free version comes with most of the features along with some advertising. You can pay the premium subscription to remove ads, but you don’t really have to in order to get in there and listen to your favorite stuff. Doggcatcher is another great podcast player as well.
RealFevr
Price: Free
RealFevr is a fantasy sports app for soccer (European football) fans. It supports a variety of leagues and events. It even did this year’s World Cup. The app has all of the features you’d want in a fantasy app. You also get a salary cap model, prizes, playoffs, and multi-platform support. There are individual soccer league apps that may provide a better experience for a specific league. However, this is a great one for soccer fans who like multiple events. It’s also entirely free.
Price: Free
Twitter is an awful social network with a lot of poisonous people. However, there is also a ton of blogs, stat tracking sites, and news sites and they’re all on Twitter. You can find all kinds of information, including general news and stats as well as scores. Some sites, like Left Wing Lock (hockey), are specifically for fantasy sports players. They can tell you things like injury reports and other things that could affect who you start. There’s a ton of info there, just try to avoid the crazy people. Reddit is another excellent website with several fantasy sports subreddits you can join.
Yahoo Fantasy Sports
Price: Free
Yahoo Fantasy Sports is another one of the most popular fantasy sports apps. It covers most sports. That includes fantasy hockey, football, baseball, and basketball. It offers a variety of league types, public leagues you can join, or private leagues that you make yourself. It also has daily leagues, tournaments, and more. They recently begun experimenting with paid leagues and events similar to FanDuel or DraftKings. Don’t worry, the regular stuff is still there. Like most, the app can occasionally screw up. However, attentive folks shouldn’t worry too much.
